About our vision

At Cardiac Care & Vascular Medicine, clinical research is considered part of our contribution to the community. Research is the art to observe and create through details. A center is not only  participating in a number of different research protocols that gather data for new advances in cardiovascular medicine, but is also engaged in investigator initiated projects that has resulted in significant contributions to medical literature. The diversity of knowledge is the DNA of our research department.

As a head of our department Dr. Romero believes that working within our inner city community and including underprivileged and underrepresented groups in clinical research is very important to extend the validity of the data obtained to a larger and more diverse population.
Dr. Romero is also deeply involved in mentoring young students in research projects. Creativity is in everyone and helping young students in articulating and planning new ideas if one of her goals

Our students experience

Dhruvi Modi from India participated in an Observership in the research department in September to November 2024.

This is the experience of Dhruvi:

Working in cardiac care and vascular medicine is like working with family. Everyday there is something new to learn from patients that come for clinical trials to patient that come for generalized care. Dr. Nanna is an excellent mentor he not only gives you chance to see your own patients and develop the clinical skills but also observing him with the patients teaches you how to interact with patients. He also teaches you about different pathology.

Matthew Rodriguez shared his experience in our department

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Romero between June 2024 and August 2024, where I served as a research assistant and shadowed her for clinical experience before my MS1 year. Dr. Romero is an excellent instructor. She is very patient and professional, and, most importantly, she creates an environment that encourages students to learn, step out of their comfort zone, and apply their knowledge, fostering a sense of growth and inspiration. After working with her for the summer, I felt my understanding of the practice of cardiology grow deeply, as well as my understanding of research and my love for medicine. If you're interested in learning more about what a career in cardiology looks like or are interested in learning more about research, you should reach out to Dr. Romero.
